THE ART of WARd 8: Anacostia Pedestrian Bridge Conceptual Idea

A couple of Conceptual Illustrations by Ed Estes are presented in this recent Blog. Ed’s work is receiving more and more attention from the planning and  advocacy community as he provides the illustrations for the DC Office of Planning.

My good blogger friend, “And Now, Anacostia” did a blog post on the idea of a bridge that would be used for strictly pedestrian use. It seems like the idea is not that far-fetched. As you should know, the new 11th Street Bridge will be completed this summer. The assumption was that after the bridge was completed the older bridges would be torn down since there will be no need to drive across them.

Sky House Kicks Off in Southwest

As the re-remoderization of Southwest Washington D.C. continues, this time without a Soviet flare, Urban Atlantic Development and JBG have started work on the transformation of Sky House I & II, the concrete layers of this old EPA government building on 1150 4th Street, and across the street at 1151 4th Street. With Wiencek & Associates Architects & Planners on board for the exterior and RD Jones + Associates for the interiors, the project will deliver some 530 units to the Southwest Waterfront area in late 2013 or early 2014.
