The DC Office of Planning is hoping to re-purpose the old southbound 11th Street Bridge in Southeast DC for future recreational and educational activities as a destination for the District and visitors alike. With tighter budgets than the bridge in this article, OP is hoping to encourage innovative cost conscious design solutions in a competition in the near future.
Becoming a destination in itself and potential catalyst in the future urban growth of Abu Dhabi, the Zaha Hadid designed Sheikh Zayed Bridge was conceived in a highly mobile society that requires a new route around the Gulf south shore, connecting the three Emirates together.
