Modern Architecture Meets Indian Design on Houston’s Lakeshore

Modern Architecture Meets Indian Design on Houston's Lakeshore

Did you ever dream of owning a unique lakeshore home? If not, be prepared to lay your head down every night and dream about this spectacular home: the Lakeshore Residence, designed by Miró Rivera Architects. It’s true that both the location and the owner’s origins collaborated to shaping such a magnificent modern home. Originally from Gujarat, India, the couple wanted to live in a lakeshore home where their traditions meet a modern design language suited for giving life to their own family. The house sited in Houston, Texas, provoked the architecture studio to find an inspiring solutions that would “accommodate the extended visits of their family while incorporating elements of the rich traditions of their homeland“.

Critical Round-Up: The September 11 Memorial Museum

I’m looking forward to visiting the Museum. It looks outstanding and appears to be very moving and beautiful. It will be a very memorable experience.

Set to open to the public on Wednesday after a highly controversial and contested journey from idea to reality, the September 11 Memorial Museum has inevitably been a talking point among critics this week. The museum by Davis Brody Bond occupies the space between the Memorial Plaza at ground level and the bedrock below, with an angular glass pavilion by Snøhetta providing an entrance from above. A long ramp, designed to recall the access ramp with which tons of twisted metal was excavated from the site, descends to the exhibits which sit within the perimeter boundaries of the twin towers’ foundations, underneath the suspended volumes of Michael Arad‘s memorial fountains

A study conducted by Emporis, the international provider of building data, has revealed that Moscow is set to retain its title as the skyscraper capital of Europe. Already home to 4 of Europe’s top 5 – including the Mercury City Tower, Europe’s current tallest at 338m – Moscow is also home to 6 of the 10 tallest European Buildings under construction. Three of these buildings will also surpass the height of the Mercury City Tower.
